I’m happy with the progress I’ve made during my project development module. I’ve conducted in-depth research, focusing on competitor analysis, UX/UI design, and branding elements to create a user-centric design for my van racking online configurator.
Research & Competitor Analysis
I undertook a thorough competitor analysis, although I used a variety of online sources for my research, I could have expanded my insights by consulting academic journals and conducting user surveys to better understand user needs and preferences. Despite this, the research laid a strong foundation for informed decision-making and design.
Branding Exploration
My research into branding covered color theory, typography, and logo development. By creating a cohesive brand identity with consistent elements, I aim to provide a professional and recognizable brand image for my client. I also conducted a color survey using Google Forms to gather data supporting my color choices and explored logo creation using Adobe Illustrator, honing my skills for the project.
Realisation and Future Steps
During the realisation module, I plan to validate my design decisions through media testing, including A/B testing, eye tracking, and heat maps, to refine and improve the user experience further. Collaborating with colleagues will also enable me to develop refined logo concepts and create a comprehensive brand proposal.
Reflection & Conclusion
Overall, I’m confident in my progress and the foundation I’ve set for my van racking online configurator project. While I achieved most of my goals, I recognise opportunities to broaden my research scope and allocate more time for ideation and concept development in future modules.
